2013-12-01 - shaping up

rollup_side

With a door on the end wall and roll up sides this is starting to look like something

2013-11-03 - Eastwall getting closer

image

Corrugated polycarbonate sheets went up thanks to rotating parental unit shifts coming through.

2013-11-02 - Creepin up some siding

image

Jeff came through with a siding background to help level out an initially rough start to the east end wall.

2013-10-29 - Endwalls underway

image

Framing the first endwall. This was a very overlooked “construct an endwall” step in my instruction manual. Special thanks to the proctor of Horse and Hive farms for helping me get my head out of my and forging ahead.

Wood for hip and baseboards delivered in the truck “rocket launcher” style. Don’t worry dad, my draped sweatshirt protected the cab.

wpid-20131020_113724.jpg

Threading overhead bolts through purlins.  good neck workout.

Great relief that it actually fit.

2013-10-19 - Laying some pipe

20131029-210755.jpg
To drive it in deep, you need one person to hammer and one person to level

hightunel_with_growbed

Settled on  hightunnel design, I belive.  a 26′ wide x 24′ long gothic arch tunnel from longwood gardens.

1 foot media bed depth x   4 ‘ x length of tunnel – 3′ walkaround space = 84 cubic foot or 630 gallon.

Ebb and flow system w/ 500 gallon fish tank?

Insulation issues?

These dimensions seem humble and low profile to the neighborhood.  We’ll see if it holds…

Geodessic structures seem like the epitome of DIY design right now, but i don’t know if this is for amateurs.
